Inukshuk (in-ook-shook)
Inukshuk is an Inuit word meaning “in the image of man”. For centuries Inukshuk have been known as guardians who direct travellers along the best and safest passage. They were originally built by the Inuit people to guide “those who follow”.
The Inukshuk symbol has been choosen as our logo for the 2010 Winter Olympics. It is a prominent figure for Canada and would make a great Canadian souvenir or Canada corporate gift.

Oil Paintings from local on-site artist John Greco
John Greco was born in northern Greece in 1938. At the age of fourteen, he entered the famous San Oras Monastery where he studied art for two years while learning the secrets of that Monastery.
In 1943, during World War II, tragedy fell upon Mr. Greco; he and his father were captured by the Germans. While they waited to be taken to prison camp, a German General observed John drawing his automobile. He was so impressed by the sketch that he released John and his father and gave them permission to return home.
At sixteen years of age, Mr. Greco had become Greece’s national champion for the 100 and 200 meter track and field events and was a member of the 4x100 meter relay team. He also competed at the 1960 Olympics in Rome (his racing career took him as far as the Middle East, Europe and even North Africa).
After spending three years in Cyprus, also known as the Venus Island, John traveled to many countries capturing their natural beauty on canvas.
Since arriving in North America in 1967, John has continued to do what he does best — painting the natural beauty of this vast continent. Mr. Greco first displayed his art in Athens in 1958, and later, in Capri, Italy. His paintings are now in many galleries throughout Canada and the United States. John spends May to September now at the Cascade Souvenir and Gift Shop in Banff, Alberta painting the beauty of the Rockies. Mr. Greco has painted the Rockies since 1969.
